Bluesin‘ Brussels and Intimate Blues have joined hands for a weekend full of blues dancing: two days of live music and two intimate blues workshops!

 The Programme

Friday 9 October, from 20.30 — A Bluesin‘ Night with Cactus Train
The weekend opens Friday night with Cactus Train, born right here in Brussels and founded by some of us at Bluesin‘, Cactus Train is homegrown blues with real bite: gritty, groove-driven, and built for the dancefloor. They know exactly what a blues room needs and give it straight, rooted in the tradition, but unmistakably their own. Intimate and electrifying in equal measure.

Saturday 10 October, from 20.30— A Bluesin‘ Night with Liquid & Bones

Liquid & Bones drop their second LP on 29 November — Family, with ten brand-new original songs. We all can’t wait to listen to it. In the meantime, we’re delighted to be dancing to their tunes in Brussels for a pre-release party with this passionate yet quirky blues quartet, so close to dancers’ hearts.

Four roads into the blues, one sound , pulled straight from Memphis Minnie, the guitar play of ‘the Texas razor’ Albert Collins, the undeniable Chicago shuffle, and the sliding sounds of the Mississippi Delta. They play with soul and sass, tunes that tickle your toes, tug your heart, and make it flat-out impossible to sit still.Come dance their new record into the world!

Intimate Blues Workshops

Between the music, Frida and Paul guides us deeper into the dance itself, two workshops on the art of connection.

Saturday /14.00 – 16.00 / The Art of Close Embrace invites you into one of the most intimate forms of partner dancing. The workshop explores how to build comfort, trust and closeness, grounded always in clear communication and consent, and uncovers its subtle language: micro-movements, belly leading, slow drag, the quiet art of sharing weight while listening to each other, to the music, and to your own body.

Sunday /14.00 – 16.00 / The Art of Sensing the Blues asks a simple question: what really creates intimacy in a dance: closeness, or the quality of attention we offer? Inspired by Blind Blues, the workshop uses blindfolds in some exercises to sharpen your feel for rhythm, weight and breath, then moves into dancing with eyes open, to discover that connection doesn’t depend on constant touch. Less, it turns out, can be so much more.

Both dance workshops are Open Level and are taking place from 14 to 16 in Lab62, Avenue de Tervueren 62, 1040 Etterbeek.
